After over a month of voting, our final results are in! You chose Alan Turing to be the ultimate Information Pioneer! He received 39.2% of the vote.
Over 9,500 people voted for the five pioneers in the films as well as for the pioneers in our Top 150.
Our advocate for Turing, Kate Russell, said:
"I was thrilled that Alan Turing took such an early lead, even managing to fight off a sudden dash from Hedy Lamarr in week two of the voting! The fact that the votes for Turing have remained steady over the course of a month, securing him a solid victory, goes to show that his appeal and importance to the world of technology is as universal as his early machines were!"
Dr. Sue Black, a member of the panel that selected the candidates for the films said:
"The work that was carried out by Turing and others at Bletchley Park not only led to the invention of the computer but saved millions of lives during WWII. Turing was way ahead of his time. The fact that only now, many years after his death, are we starting to realise fully his massive contribution, shows just how far ahead of his time he really was. I'm absolutely delighted that Alan Turing is the winner of the Information Pioneers campaign and look forward to seeing him and his work celebrated as it should have been while he was still alive. Well done @KateRussell!"
You can read more about the choice on the main BCS site. And if you haven't seen it yet, the Wired.com This Day In Tech blog recently ran a great piece about Turing (and included our video).
We also recently received some nice words about the Hedy Lamarr film from Anthony Loder, her son:
"No matter how hard I tried, I could not come up with even one, slight suggestion to improve this short film about my Mother. I thoroughly enjoyed every second of it. You succeeded in making Hedy's idea easy to grasp. Bravo!"
Thanks to everyone who voted for our Information Pioneers! Even though the voting has now closed, you can still help us get the word out and celebrate these oft-underappreciated heroes by sharing our videos with friends, family and colleagues.

Bonjour, Hedy Lamarr is a difficult person to appreciate. That is why, with my poor means I tabled this video on Youtube. I could have done better, but it is available. http://www.youtube.com/...
No, Ada "explained" what Babbage had done by giving examples of how his hardware could be used. So she was the software pioneer.
